Mission of the Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study
The purpose of Hospitals & Health Networks’ Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study is to promote the effective use of information technology in achieving clinical and operational excellence.
Most Wired Award Designations
100 Most Wired—The 100 Most Wired organizations are organizations that scored the highest on the survey questions. Each survey is scored using a methodology emphasizing the use of information technology. Individual scores are not made public, and we do not rank the organizations. The survey is made possible through a partnership among H&HN, AHA, Accenture, McKesson and CHIME.
25 Most Improved—The 25 Most Improved organizations are based upon year-over-year analysis. All participants that completed the previous year’s survey are automatically entered into this category. Hospitals that score in the 100 Most Wired do not qualify for the Most Improved award. The 2008 Most Improved awards are a joint project of AT&T with H&HN, AHA, Accenture, McKesson and CHIME.
25 Most Wireless—The 25 Most Wireless are named based on the scoring of select questions concerning wireless technology in the survey. It is possible for organizations to make it onto both the 100 Most Wired and 25 Most Wireless lists. The Most Wireless awards are a joint project of Intel with H&HN, AHA, Accenture, McKesson and CHIME.
25 Most Wired-Small and Rural—Rural hospitals and hospitals with 100 or fewer beds qualify for this category. Hospitals are asked bed size; rural hospitals qualify by ZIP code. (A rural hospital is one that is located outside a metropolitan statistical area designated by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget as a geographically defined, integrated social and economic unit with a large population nucleus.) Hospitals that score in the 100 Most Wired cannot also be named Most Wired--Small and Rural. The Most Wired--Small and Rural awards are a joint project of Siemens with H&HN, AHA, Accenture, McKesson and CHIME.
Innovator Winners and Finalists—Hospitals that submit a separate essay are eligible to be named one of three winners or three finalists. The Most Wired Innovator Awards are a joint project of H&HN, AHA, Accenture, McKesson and CHIME. Click here for more information.
Most Wired Supply Chain Innovator Award—Hospitals may submit a separate essay on innovation in the supply chain. Winners will be profiled in Materials Management in Health Care and recognized at the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management’s 46th Annual Conference & Exhibition. Click here for more information.
